Exercise in Texture

Texture Practice: In her book “The Painter’s Workshop, Creative Composition and Design,” Pat Drews recommends an exercise to create an abstract. She suggests finding a small part of a photo that is interesting and using those shapes to start the painting. Below is my attempt at this exercise and also the reference photo taken by Julie, by 14 year old daughter.

Wow, this is incredible, but I ya, there's much easier ways to make an origami swan (though not half so pretty) :).
