"LightBulB" for Inspire Me Thursday
This week’s Inspire Me Thursday theme is “Open Challenge”: thinking about what inspires, what challenges, what motivates? So I just started drawing today and “lightbulb” is what I came up with. If I were artistically articulate I could explain how I got to the end point; why I made the background so significant; and why the focal point is climbing off of the page. Fortunately I haven’t a clue. I just drew it. If you scroll down you will see some other recent drawings. At least I do know what inspired them. The Donut Stack Spell was inspired by all the “journal art” that has words on top of the pictures. I’m not big into personal inner thoughts scrawled all over my pictures – but Spells, Incantations, stuff like that would be cool – well not the actual spell, that would be giving it away, but how about the spell tips, sort of like Alton Brown gives tips on how to make cooking recipe work well. And about the Grits picture, it was inspired by Southern Outsider Artists, WILLARD J. whose web site I came across yesterday. It is http://www.willardj.com/index.html. I don’t know him personally, but his work is soooo energetic. And so I drew the Grits picture as a tribute to the power of Southern Outsider Artists.

For I.T. Black and White Theme:
Title: Mirror, Mirror. This black and white drawing was made in Painter IX using the Gouache Brush and a self-made BENDAY Dot fill. I had great fun drawing it. In the middle of working on it I got a phone call, that helped, because I stepped back while on the phone and noticed what areas I needed to work on.
